The 2008 HWA Weekend promises to be the biggest and the most complete gathering of Heisman Winners in history. It is anticipated that as many as 30 past winners of the Heisman Trophy™ will gather at the Barton Creek Resort & Spa for a weekend of golf, tennis, relaxation, and entertainment including golf and dinner events that are open to individual and corporate participation.
The HWA will also celebrate the accomplishments of three college football legends: Army’s Pete Dawkins, Nebraska’s Mike Rozier and Texas’ Ricky Williams.

The Nevada men's golf coach who was the target of an NCAA investigation into rules violations resigned Wednesday, saying he made some "errors in judgment" that the school's athletic department was not aware of. Rich Merritt, the Western Athletic Conference golf coach of the year in 2007, did not specify what the errors were.

For the golfer who thinks a 15-foot putt with 10 grand on the line isn't enough action, how's $200,000 sound? No, not the prize, just the fee to tee off. The World Series of Golf next year in Las Vegas will cost $200,000 to enter and offer a $1.5 million payout for the winner. Organizers think they can find 25 players willing to ante up the $200,000 entry fee.
