Brief history: Founded in 1990 by Karsten Manufacturing Corporation (KMC) - makers of PING golf equipment - The Solheim Cup features 12 of the top European born players from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and 12 top American born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).
Going into the 2009 event, the U.S. Team leads the competition, 7-3, and has never lost on home soil. The European Team has won three of the four events held overseas and will be looking to regain the Cup in 2009. The 2009 Solheim Cup will be played August 17-23 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois. U.S.A.
